Wiki.........

I personally do not like the wiki assignment we had to do. For me it was a little to complicated, the whole learning of the wiki was interesting but actually contributing to it, well that I was not a fan of. Overall it was a good experience that I again am not a fan of. Although for some I will say they did seem to have a good time in learning about it and they did an awesome job especially with helping the others understanding the whole wiki idea.

Death......GOOD or BAD?

A lot of people think of death as a bad thing. Now this is might contradict my previous post but, is it really a bad thing. Yes, we miss the person who passed away or was killed but what if it was for the better. This might sound cold hearted to people but let say the person had a disease that has them in their death bed, why would we keep them alive? for them to keep suffering? there are a lot of people that will disagree because they say to have the faith maybe they can recover and come back from anything they would be going through at that moment. Realistically I think those types of people are selfish, yes! selfish and please don't get offended for this but it is my opinion. If I had my parents or my significant other in a state that I had to make the decision  of life or death, I would choose Death. Only because I wouldn't want them to suffer, yes I might regret it and miss them to death but if its something they would want I would complete there wish.

Death.......

Death is a word I HATE! I hate this with a passion especially when it comes from a loved one. Since a child I have hated to hear someone has passed away but, it wasn't until it hit home almost 3years ago that I have felt that word come to its worse meanings. Almost 3 years ago I got a horrific call that the father of my child passed away (now I don't want to get in to details on how it happened lets just say it wasn't supposed to happen) The fact that I had him one day and he was gone the next was just unimaginable. Now I had to do more then just find out he was dead, I had to identify his body, come up with the money for everything and last which was the worse thing I have experienced is having to go to view his body before anyone else can. Now until that time came I didn't want to belive that this acctually happend. Death makes you realize even more how much you miss womeone, how every detail of anything makes you remeber things that would happen. Death is something that at times comes very unexpectidly. So my suggestion to everyone is cherish everyone you have around you, take lots of pictures because pictures are worth a million memories.

Im not writing this for anyone to feel sympathy, please dont, this is just the first thing that came to my mind when the word DEATH came to mind.

Music

finding something that symbolizes something was a bit on the challenging side. I actually had to pay attention to what was a symbol to that particular person and I noticed it was music. No matter how that persons day was going music had the ability to make everything go away or become better. Music was some type of Zen to my friend. No matter what her music was always playing whether sad, happy, motivating all she did was dance. This made everything seem better to her, then I noticed the reason why everything the music she was listening to made some type of sense. If she was in a happy mood the music was up bet and happy go lucky, if something was wrong or on her mind they music was slow and the words that the artist song would just touch your heart. Music does indeed make people much more at ease.

A symbol can be anything to anybody a person, place or thing. I belive that my child is my favorite symbol. She is 6yrs old and she represents me. As much as it gets to me my daughter is just like me with a some of her fathers features.  she acts like me tries to talk like me lol but wont. A child to me symbolizes who you are, how they act and appear reflexs on you. There is that saying monkey see monkey do, well children are perfect monkeys. My daughter looks up to me every second and every day. Although we dont spend so much time together because I am a full time student here and work a full time job but what I like is that she understands. She understands that in life to get what we want we have to work hard for it and she knows that we will have plenty of times together.

 psychological critisim

Just to debunk what I think is going on in a story seems appealing to me. Im writing my Doc2 paper on the short story of Flannery O'conner The Revelation. Now when you first read the revelation you meet a christian lady who belives that she is better than anyone even the rich people named Mrs.Turpin. As you read the story you notice how she critiszes everyone and puts her attention on a young lady Mary Grace. Long story short, Mrs.Turpin says somethings that are directed to Mary Grace. Before you know it Mary grace lashes out at Mrs.Turpin telling her "Go back to hell where you came from, you old wart hog." the comment itself leavees her speachless and thinking all day. Now at the end of the story she scoldes at god, shes mad at him for the things that have happend, telling him "who do you think you are". We came to class on day and we basically debuncked the story. We basically figured out that this story took place around the civil right movement which would explain all the reasons why"white" people thought so low of the "black" people in this story. If you continue to read at the end of the story Mrs.turpin realizes that even when she thinks as a good or perfect person is not what god himself thinks, he accepts everyone.

The Desert......

When I first read The Desert by Benjamin Alire Saenz the first thing that popped into my head was not religion was not sexually but his journey to America. Now I am Hispanic and no I'm not racist in any form but the way he says "I came to you one rainless August night. You taught me how to live without the rain." sound like when he first started on his journey to America. How he started in an august night and how the dessert taught him how to live without rain. But then everyone said religion and I re-read the poem again, it all made sense. He went to god in august, he says how he (god) is everything sand, wind, sun, and burning sky. Then his verse saying salvame mi dios.... save me god it just all came together.....

Writers are great whether they are male or female. But, a female writer seems to write more personal stories and stories that are happening in that time they are writing. Most women writers get really into the stories they are writing. Its like you can see and feel what they are feeling and seeing. Like in the story revelation by Flannery O'Conner, when I read this story every thing I read from her its like I envisioned the whole thing. When she Mrs.Turpin would talk about everyone or when Mary Grace attacked Mrs.Turpin. The way she used her words just felt real and for the most art that's how I feel when I read a story that is written by a women.

GENDER ROLES??????

I honestly Hate gender roles. Why? because who ever came up with the idea that "this is a mans thing" or" that's a womens thing" is plain dumb!!!!! why can't a man do what a women does. Why can't a women change the oil of her car. I belive that both men and women can do the same exact thing. Both men and women can cook and clean the house, do the "handymandy" job lol. Times have changed, society has changed; we do not live in a society that women cannot do a mans job and vice versa. Now alot of people might think oh but a women can't do the work of a man, we can say the same about a man how they cannot cook and clean so on. But there are alot of men that are single parents and guess what they cook, clean, iron etc. And there are alot of single female parents that can also do the fixing of the house hold, the hard labor. So lets stop this gender role thing and lets treat everyone the same.

THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER....

This story is very interesting I had to read it a couple times to get it and honestly I think I still don't get it lol, but the story is very gloomy, sad and with betrayal. I noticed that when he read the story to Roderick it seemed that everything in the story actually happened to that family in real life..... Maybe I'm wrong but if someone can clarify this story for me it would be nice to hear it from someone else's point of view........

RED BRACELET

The one thing that I carry on me at all times would have to be my red string/bracelet that I have on my left wrist. I DO NOT TAKE THIS OFF FOR NOTHING!!!!! the reason why is because I believe that it wards off the evil eye, takes away any negative energy. Many don't believe this but I do! Now I don't know why I picked my left wrist to put it on but it just felt right to me. As I did a little research my red bracelet is somewhat associated to the Kabbalah. In Kabbalah traditionally a red string is used on your left wrist and also used to ward off evil spirts and the evil eye. Now what I did find out was that your left side is your spiritual body. I do believe a lot in the evil eye and the fact that there are people around that wish bad upon you. In the Spanish culture we are brought up knowing about the evil eye or as it is said in Spanish the "el mal de ojo". Now I can't speak for every Hispanic but I was brought up knowing about this. So my bracelet never comes off.....

Mary Grace

In the revelation there is a young girl who has came home from college named Mary Grace. She is with her mother at the doctors office reading her book while the other ladies including her mother are having a conversation. In this conversation they are talking about how the white race is better than then the blacks and so on. One of the ladies named Mrs. Ruby Turpin attempts to talk to Mary Grace but Mary Grace does not pay her no mind. This leads for her mother to answer all the questions that Mrs. Turpin is asking, her mother is embarrassed by her daughters behavior but nevertheless continues with the conversation. As the ladies continue their conversation Mary Grace is listening to everything Mrs.Turpin is saying, she is making noises with her teeth and giving her this stare. The stare which makes Mrs.Turpin notice her even more. Mrs. Turpin makes a comment "I think the worst thing in the world"... "is an ungrateful person. To Have everything and not appreciate it. I know a girl".... she goes on by continuing to be little Mary Grace. When Mrs. Turpin is asked if the "girl" is to young to be paddle (to be spanked) she responded with "yes, I am afraid there's nothing to do but leave her folly. Some day she will wake to and it will be to late". This comment makes Mary Grace feel some type of way that makes her throw a book at Mrs. Turpin and choke her and what is descried in the short story is that she goes into a seizure. Mary Grace then gets sedated but before she closes her eyes she tells Mrs. Turpin "go back to hell where you came from, you old hog". Why would she say this to the lady most of you could be asking. Well Mary Grace is going to college up north where blacks and whites are starting to come together and this has yet to have happened in the south. As Mary Grace hears the way Mrs.Turpin talks about black people you notice from the gestures that she makes that all this is bothering her. At which point she has had enough and lashes out at her also telling her the truth about herself. This comment that Mary Grace has said leaves Mrs.Turpin confused, distraught, wondering why she has said this about her. If I was in Mary Grace position I wouldn't have changed anything of what she did. I think Mrs. Turpin deserved to her those words from someone who wasn't afraid to tell her, she deserved to hear the truth about herself.

Wiki Topic

Finding a wikipidia topic is extremely hard. At first I thought hey how hard can this be I just have to do some research. But OMG let me say it again this is actually hard. At first I was going to write about the Yellow Wallpaper, the story itself is very interesting. It deals a mother that has fallen into a depression, and around this time this was not something that was acceptable. So her husband take his wife to a mansion and lock her in a room thinking it will help her get rid of the depression. To make the long story short it back fires and he intern seems like she goes crazy. Well as I was looking into wikipidida to see what can I possible add to this great story, I noticed that it was basically almost perfect I cannot add anything more to this. All the information has basically been picked apart and translated for people like us to understand it . So here I was wondering what should I collaborate in know then someone said the Revelation. As I read into it I started to like the story more than I liked the Yellow Wallpaper. So now I am part a group and we decided to collaborate in this story together.

The Yellow Wallpaper

Wikipidia says this story takes place in the 19th century, although it was written in 1892. Honestly when I read the story I could not tell where it takes place. The story does not make that part so descriptive. It wasn't until I read the article in wikipidia: The yellow wallpaper that I understood where the story takes place.  Wiki states that the basically this story takes place when there was a lot of feminist going on and women where not allowed to be better than men . Also, in the 19th century women can not be mentally ill, they as in the people around that time looked down upon women that did have a mental illness. In this short story the woman's husband John, takes his wife to a mansion for the summer and he locks her in a room with yellow wallpaper with the design of a woman. He says he kept her there to heal her he didn't think this was a mental illness yet something that she just needs to get over and sucluding her from everyone will help her. Now what happens next I guess you will just have to read the story.

HEYYYY!!!!!!

My name is Karen, I am full time student, mother of 1!!!!! that's a hand full on its own, and a full time worker. I am currently attending SU for my BSN, it is a hard journey to my goal but eventually I know I will make it happen. I am currently a medical assistant and if it wasn't for the doctor that I work for I wouldn't be here. I owe her a lot!!!! if it wasn't for her nagging on me checking into schools every single day I would be home not knowing what to do right now.
